Your Memory & Relationships

Karmyq is designed to forget — and Sprint 90 made that visible. This guide explains the three new places you'll see it: fading relationships, the re-warming nudge, and your profile's memory section.

Relationships that fade

Open a community and go to How we're connected. Each bond between people now carries a decay tier based on how active it is:

  • Strong — a well-tended, active relationship (full colour).
  • Warm — healthy.
  • Fading — going quiet; the connection looks visibly fainter.
  • Nearly forgotten — about to be let go.

Bonds you've drifted from appear dimmer and more washed-out. Hover over a faded connection to see its status spelled out. This isn't a judgement — it's an honest picture of which relationships are alive right now.

The re-warming nudge

When a connection you once relied on is nearly forgotten, Karmyq shows a gentle prompt:

You and Sam used to help each other often — reconnect before it fades.

Tap Reconnect to open a message and pick things back up. The nudge only appears when there's genuinely a bond worth saving — if nothing is fading, you'll never see it.

Your profile's memory section

Your profile now has a "What we hold, and what we let go" section. It shows:

  • How many active relationships you're tending.
  • Which bonds are going quiet.
  • Your karma trend (if you've enabled karma display).
  • A plain line about what gets let go when a bond stays quiet.

Empty rows are hidden — if you have no fading bonds, you won't see an awkward "0 fading" placeholder.

What's actually forgotten

Curious what the platform keeps versus lets go? The What Karmyq Remembers page lays it out in plain language: completed-request text is anonymized after about six months, unanswered expired requests are deleted after a month, and messages are forgotten with their exchange. What's always kept is the aggregate — that you helped, your karma, and your trust. Forgetting the words never changes the numbers.

Frequently asked

Does forgetting lower my karma? No. Karma is never touched by forgetting — only the words around it are let go.

Can I stop a relationship from fading? Yes — interact again. Helping, messaging, or completing an exchange re-warms the bond.

Can I delete a specific exchange myself? Not yet. Today you can see everything that's held and fading; per-item delete and export are planned for a future release.
